WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE? IT’S MORE THAN JUST BRUISES.

When most people hear the words “domestic violence” they think of black eyes and broken bones. But the truth is, abuse wears many faces-some of them silent, invisible, and devastating.

Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior used to gain power and control over another person in a close relationship. It can be physical, but it’s often emotional, psychological, financial or even spiritual.

Emotional Abuse: Insults, gas lighting, intimidation.

Financial Abuse: Controlling money, preventing work.

Psychological Abuse: Threats, isolation, manipulation.

Sexual Abuse: Coercion or assault within a relationship.

What makes it so complex is that it doesn’t always begin with violence. It often starts with love, attention, and charm-slowly shifting into control, fear, and confusion.

If you’re reading this and wondering if what you’ve experienced is abuse- trust your gut. Abuse is never your fault, and you’re not alone. This blog is here to support, educate, and walk beside you as you find your voice again.

With love,
