💜Why These Myths Are Harmful:💜

When we ask, “why don’t they leave?” We shift blame onto the survivor instead of holding the abuser accountable. This question adds shame and silences the voices of those who need support the most. A better question is, “Why does this person feel entitled to control and harm someone they claim to love?”

What you can do instead:

-Believe survivors when they speak

-Avoid judgement or pressure

-Offer resources, not ultimatums

-Share the Natural Domestic Violence Hotline (www.thehotline.org/ 1-800-799-SAFE)

Conclusion:

Leaving isn’t always an option-until it is. Survivors are not weak for staying; they are strong for surviving. If we truly want to support them, we must listen without judgement, speak out against abuse, and shatter the silence together.

Your story matters. Your healing matters. You are not alone.
