Blog Post #10: You Are Allowed to Be Both — Healing While Still
“You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time.” – Sophia Bush
There’s this quiet pressure survivors often feel—the belief that we must be fully healed before we’re allowed to feel proud of ourselves. That we can’t celebrate our strength until the wounds are completely closed. But healing doesn’t work like that. And you don’t have to wait to be “done” before you see your own beauty.
💜 Healing Isn’t Linear
Some days you may feel empowered and full of purpose. Other days, a memory, a scent, or a word might send you spiraling. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re human. Healing after abuse is not a straight path—it’s a winding road with moments of light and shadow. You can be growing and still grieving. Rising and still resting.
💐 You’re Still Worthy
You don’t have to earn your worth by “getting over it” or “moving on” in a certain timeframe. Your progress, no matter how small, is sacred. You’re allowed to celebrate your milestones—big and small—while still navigating the hard days. Being a work in progress doesn’t make you broken. It makes you real.
🌱 Embrace Both Sides
You are courageous simply for surviving. And even more so for choosing to heal. You can cry and still be strong. You can doubt and still be deserving. You can be messy and still be magnificent.
